Poster montage

About a month ago, they had a Cowboy Action Shooting event here in our little valley. This montage I've assembled was part of the poster advertising the event. I found the spur in the photo while on a ground squirrel shooting "safari" in the gold rush country south east of Sonora, California several years ago. The .45 cartridges will be mounted in an old weather-beaten, aged "belt loop"....and they will be tarnished brass with round lead bullets, not the fancy copper hollow points shown here. They were shown for comparison only. I'm going to make a shadow box frame from some old local barn wood. Me thinks it will make for an interesting wall hanging in my office. Oh yeah, by the way, the poster as it is now, is covered in protective plastic, so it looks kind of weird.

The old spur....yeah....I've made up all kinds of stories in my mind, like perhaps it once belonged to "Three Fingered" Jack or Joaquin Muretta or Black Bart. Who knows. I dug furiously for about an hour hoping I would find the matching one, but it didn't happen. It has some rather fancy detailing on it that isn't evident in the photo. Who knows the history behind it. If it could only talk.
