There are a variety of plastics used to make knife handles. Some are a rigid plastic and others have a softer, cushioned like surface.
Which plastic makes up the handle has no effect on value.
You can buy new SanRenMu(China) knives on ebay for as little as $10 and they are excellent knives, top notch fit & finish and razor sharp and they hold up as well as any knife costing hundreds of dollars. As such, most pre-owned Chinese knives have almost no value.
