All About Pocket Knives

I am trying to find information on the maker/brand of my old shop knife. It is marked on one side of the large blade as follows, John Primble - Belknap- How& mfg. co, on the other side of the blade is a number 6279 and a five pointed star. The small blade was broken off by a friend using it to pry with. Can one of the experts on this forum identify this Knife? Thanks.

That's a really nice looking knife. What a shame the blade got broken. I'd be tempted to get that repaired if possible.

Thanks for the information, that the star meant that it was made by Boker. I am just starting to research information on my hodgepodge collection of knives accumulated over a 50 year time span. Interesting stuff, shared by some very kind, and generous Folks. At 86, I have to rely completely on a spell checker when making posts, as my memory is shot, and along with it my spelling, and it takes half an hour, to an hour, for me to make a post that anyone can understand, but I am really enjoying it. Thanks All, for patiently sharing your wealth of information with me. Three of my favorite pocket knives shared the same fate, of having a blade broken off by the same old friend, dead, for 20 years, using them to pry with. I have never broken a blade tip off of a knife myself.

Sut - God bless you for finding this forum and for the fortitude to post here, I for one think you are doing fantastic!

We have a number of members that call themselves knife mechanics but to me they are more like magicians and artists. I don't know that anyone ever assembled a list of them but I can tell you from first hand experience that these guys know their stuff and can will treat your pocket knives better than their own. If you PM (Private Message) them, I'm sure you will find one of them willing to take on your repair work. I'm sure I'm leaving out someone on the forum that could take on this work but these are the fine gentlemen that I've worked with in the past:
