All About Pocket Knives

USAAF WW2 Bailout Folding Machete - adopted October 1942 as part of the B4 bailout kit.

Made by Case, Cattaraugus, Imperial and Camillus.

G. Butler & Co. made them in the UK.

Atlanta Cutlery had replicas made at one time.

Any idea what it's worth? How does a person go about finding exactly what yr. It was made. How many were made. Any info greatly appreciated.

These folding machetes normally sell in the 75 to 125 range in very good condition. Having the blade cover guard is a plus but the damage to the end of the blade is a big minus. I have no idea how many were made but I believe the manufacture was confined to WWII era and shortly after. The Case fixed blade version of this machete is less common than the folding.

The US made ones were 1943 to 1945.

The British is unknown, but as few as I have seen, probably the same time frame.

A single Japanese one I saw is obviously post-war, most likely the 1950s.

The Atlanta Cutlery fakes were around 2011 to 2012.

Th reason I call the AC versions of any thing "fakes" is because they try to identically mimic the origianl stamps, have nothing on their "replicas" indicating
that they are replicas, and .......

Their products are usually adequately made, re:, copying profiles, matching stamps and price, BUT, I've seen way too many AC products being passed off as real in the after market.

Gotta love these guys , to the op, you joined 2 days ago, posted a question early am today about a knife and had your first response in less than 15 minutes and within a few hours had all your info . Yep gotta love the knife community , I tell ya, seein' this post makes me sorry I sold my Cattaraugus Pilot's folding survival machete, seller's remorse big time.
