All About Pocket Knives

Not too many of these left intact. This is from the early 1960's, with all original items still wired to the display board. This board was used to display Case knives in the Northampton Sportsman's Center, Northampton, Massachusetts. I recently purchased it from the estate of the store owner.

I chose to list this here instead of my AAPK store since this is a more complicate item to sell. Not suitable for "one click" ordering.

The board itself measures 19" x 35".

There are 48 items total - 32 pocket knives, 15 fixed blade knives, and one sharpening stone.

All of the pocket knives have varying degrees of light tarnish,m a few have visible specks. But remember, these have been wired to this display board for over 50 years, all original XX era knives, all pocket knives with the XX tang stamp. Some nice patterns here.

Asking $4,000 plus shipping. I have a detailed list of all of the pattern numbers and notes on condition, if anyone is interested. I also have additional photos. Due to the high $$ amount, I prefer to take payment by check rather than by PayPal.

Great pickup. Really nice. Actually fantastic is a better term. Looks huge compared to the dimensions you provided. Lot of old beauties pack in a small area.

As incredible an offer as this is, I can't help but wonder how many members have that amount of cash in their respective knife budgets?

I certainly don't.

But, here's a thought: How about offering it as a raffle prize? I can't afford a $4,000 lump sum, but I could probably be convinced to buy a $50 raffle ticket for a chance to win it. You would only need to sell 80 tickets at $50 each to get your asking price; I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least 80 members who would also be willing to take a shot at winning it for only $50...which is less than the current value of any single one of the knives on the entire display board (on average). Raffle rules would stipulate that the drawing would take place just as soon as 80 ($50) tickets have been sold, however long that may require. Heck, for a 1 in 80 shot at winning such an amazing prize, I might even buy two tickets just to increase my odds. That's a gamble I would seriously consider betting on.

Something to consider anyway.

I've always found Steve to be extremely fair in prices and honest.

Trouble is, Case never made any farmers jacks, in collusion with Robeson on the pattern.

Curious Steve, Have you ever seen an in tact tested display? Besides the San Diego yacht club display.

What?? I'm confused too.

I thought a "rooskie" was reference to a Fight'N Rooster, a Hen & Rooster or a pejorative nickname for a Russian. So, I don't know what "pullin a rooskie" even means; but, I gather it's not something you want to be guilty of doing. Whatever it is, it must also be hilarious, and a good reason to get tormented on AAPK.

No, I never have.

Back in the 70's, I saw a few intact XX displays still in use in stores, but never any older than that.

I do have some scans of photos of older Tested era displays, the photos were taken back in the day.

Displays interest me. Id sure like to see the pictures of them if you were able to post them.

This display was even more amazing to see in person. A few of us got to peek at it during the Mystic show.

Well done Steve and IMHO fairly priced at $85/knife - I'm sure the new owner will be equally as thrilled! It looks much different than it did in your trunk

No doubt seeing them upclose was quite the site - so many unused knives, fixed blades and a hatchet as well - even if you are not a Case collector it was appealing to say the least .... and if I was a Case collector I would be taking a loan ...
