All About Pocket Knives

I'd love to find one of these in good condition. It's a good looking knife with the Schrade name on bolsters. Any idea what pattern this was?

No Schrade expert here but to me the frame says trapper. What is its length ?

Could be Schrade Cut Co 2203 3/4

Schrade Cut Co made a couple different versions of that knife. The pattern that went on to become known as the 2OT, the first Old Timer pattern produced by Schrade Walden.

I can't access my book at the moment so I can't tell you what he Schrade Cut Co number was.

If you can give the length closed Dale can find the model number.
I know there is two sizes.

Thanks guys! Yes, it's definitely a Schrade Cut Co 2203 3/4. Two backspring knife. I sure wish it were in better condition. I understand they are pretty tough to find.

Those bolsters are sometimes called 'Washington' bolsters. Several companies made them. GEC has made one a little bigger than the old CutCo version. The 3/4 designation in the pattern # meant clip blade. The default version had a spear blade. They also made a teeny version. As has been mentioned, this was the precursor to the famous 2OT, the very first Schrade Old Timer knife ever made, in about 1959. Those old ones were available in celluloid and bone, perhaps other materials. How would you like a minty one in MOP and a fancy etch? Yum!

Here's a couple pics of my 2203-3/4. It's 3-1/2" closed. The blade had been tipped, pearl celluloid handles and had C.D. SHAMBURGER LBR. CO. Inc. on the pile side scale. I sent it to Herman Williams. He cleaned and polished it, re-profiled the blade, and put on some jigged bone handles. He did the jigging himself using the jigging machine that was built in the Schrade machine shop. I've never seen the machine or a picture of it and I doubt anyone else has either. I plan to visit him next spring so maybe I'll get lucky and get a glimpse of it.

Cal, this GEC #251208 just showed up it the mail. It's not a Schrade and it doesn't have Washington bolsters, but it's pretty minty in MOP and has a fancy etch.
