All About Pocket Knives

Over the past few months I have started seeing knives on Ebay listed as Schatt & Morgan Coles knives. At first I just took this to be an offensive example of keyword spamming, since I know that a few decades ago some very nice knives were produced under the name Coles. And I could not spot the word Coles stamped on the knives or printed on the boxes. Now I have seen Schatt & Morgan knives advertised as Schatt & Morgan Coles so many times that I am wondering if Queen is using Coles to designate some particular feature or product line. Anyone have any knowledge about this? Or is it all just keyword spamming?

Don't know Mel but I have one and it's a very nice knife.

That looks like a nice knife, Jerry - I love that Wharncliffe blade! Since you actually have the knife, does it say Coles anywhere on the knife or on the box or paperwork? I am wondering the Coles label is actually something from Queen.

Yes and they were made in Germany, usually (always ?) with stag handles.
Is this the same Coles as in "Coles Books" ?
I would like to learn the story around the Coles Germany knives as well as the Coles Schatt & Morgan knives.

Joe - Some of the old Coles knives were MOP. My only Coles is one of those and like you said, made in Germany. Just from my impression of the feel, I am guessing that my Coles came from the same German factory that made some of Robi Klass knives. Getting off topic here, but his is mine.

Nope, not a whisper on the knife or the box. The only thing out of the ordinary is the "DFC" (Daniels Family Cutlery) stamped on a tang.

I called Ken Daniels and asked him.He said Coles was a custom maker that designed the pattern.Basicly the frame,has it comes in different blade combos.

Jerry - thanks for looking for me. I just got curious about the issue. By the way, that nice wide groove on the bolsters of your knife is very appealing. It is a lot like some Farmers Jacks in that respect, not something I see a lot.
