I found an old 5393 case tested that looks to have second cut stag on one side and gnarly stag on the other. Could this be legit? Please double click to enlarge.

The knife looks all original - I would need more photos to be certain. Second cut stag was indeed used in the early years of Case. However, to me that looks like regular stag, not second cut, on front. Case would reserve the most gnarly pieces for the back, with the smoother pieces for the front, due to the need to install the shield on front.

It also looks more like a 93 pattern - so would be a 5393. The 93 is similar to the 92 but has much thicker backsprings and blade stock.

I am not sure--92, or 93-it has heavy back springs and bear trap snap.

I agree that it is 93 instead of 92. My supporting reason is the way the main blade nail nick is configured. Usually a long pull starts at the tang grind line. I have only seen this on 93, 55, and rarely on a 75.

If you found that knife as you say, you'd have to be one lucky individual. You may as well have found two $100 bills on the sidewalk at the same time.

You guys are not going to believe this tale-- I got up early Monday morning ,9th, and checked my ebay watches as I usually do. Clicked on Tested knives and there 'as big as life, was this knife. Although this old knife was nice, it was not the knife that took my breath away but there it was listed for $4.99 BUY--IT--NOW and $3.00 shipping. Needless to say I bought that sucker faster than a country boy can eat a roasting ear. ha ha. Talk about the blind hog and the acorn quip. On closer examination it is a 5393 pattern.

Congratulations on the nice find! For comparison purposes, here is a Case Tested XX 6393 (i.e., the green bone version of your knife).

No there is only one long pull. Its just the way the light shadow fell on the pic.

Canthok, I hate to busrt your bubble and run contrary to the advice of others, but that knife is clearly a counterfeit. Why would anyone put a counterfeit knife, that looks so authentic, up for sale for $4.99? Don't make sense. If I were going to sell a counterfeit I would put it on open auction and get much more for it. Hartley to believe.

Canthook, in case you didn't get my response to your message (or was it email, I have forgotten) I was jesting in my response above. That knife is as right as right can be. I absolutely love those '93 patterns and lust every time I see one that looks as good as yours. Please accept my apology for the jest.
