Hi everyone, I'm a collector from the UK and this is my first post on AAPK! I shall be posting some of my small collection over the next few weeks for your perusal.
Found this good size folder recently. It's in unused condition, with horn scales and no plating. Blade length is 3 3/4", with a 4 1/2" handle. The only markings are READ at the root of the blade.
Any ideas on this one?

Hi Bob ::welcome:: Nice to meet you. I checked Goins and this is the only thing I could find:

I. Read Sheffield c1848-1870. Read was located at 34 Lambert Street, Sheffield, England. This company manufactured "Bowie" type knives among other types of cutlery.

Don't know if that's the same company but that's all I could find.
