That's pretty cool. I loved the Lone Ranger tv show as a kid and still watch reruns today. I even have my wife watching them.

I saw that too, and am still wondering if it's legitimate. What do you all think?

Seller offers no returns. I wouldn't bet on it. Some of these eBay seller's really rub me the wrong way.

John Hart played as the Lone Ranger for a short about the end of the series after a contract dispute with Clayton Moore.

I have never seen anything allegedly owned by him that was anything more than a very 'ho-hum' edc knife that I would not pay ten dollars for. Maybe if it was owned by a famous President of the United States from the 19th century. Maybe not. I am not a personality cult worshiper. This kind of stuff really is a head-scratcher. The OP knife referred to is a sad worn-out knife to begin with. ????? What??????

This is a tough emotional call.
I agree w/ MrWatch in that Mr. Hart was really not the Lone Ranger, at least not to me...
Just call the knife a "franchise piece", and value it from that aspect.

Then as TongueRiver states it is not a great old knife. Maybe 30 bucks on Fleabay.

Finally I have to wonder who owned any of the knives I now own.
Some of mine go back to 1800 give or take a few years. I'm not so sure that a known previous owner really makes a difference unless you are the type that values the owner over the item, and then it could be a napkin or a shoe lace.

I don't know how I feel about such items.

There have been a ton of knives owned by Mr. Hart (the "other" Lone Ranger) sold on fleabay over the last few years by a man liquidating Mr. Hart's "stuff" for his widow's estate.

I've been tempted for a few of the knives offered, but the price was always a little too steep to justify picking them up.

Now, if they had been Clayton Moore's knives or one of Jay Silverheel's, all bets would be off.

Mr. Hart had a lot of roles after his 1 season (1952-1953) stint as the LR, but the only other one I ever remember is his "The Adventures of Captain Africa", which was 15 movie house serial episodes that was kinda like a cross between The Phantom and The Lone Ranger.

I would jump on his CA knife in a heartbeat. IIRC from the 2 serial episodes I ever saw, CA's knife was similar to some of the Tarzan "bowies".

In my opinion the previous owner of a knife should have little to no effect on the value of the knife, perhaps unless the previous owner was a very prominent historical figure that had a noticeable effect on the world as we know it.

This knife just isn't worth much in it's condition, even though it's a scarce pattern.

I think this is a very fair statement.
To one person Mick Jaggers pocket knife may be a million dollar piece but I wouldn't care at all.
Now if Teddy Roosevelt's knife came up, that would have value to the majority of collectors.

It did, about A year ago on Rock Island. Sold for a little over $450,000.
