All About Pocket Knives

These are some off the bench. Alabama Damascus- one in Ram horn and other is Mammoth Ivory. I take the factory etch off and do my own.

I am a HUGE fan of the horn even tho they are both stunning knives.

You did a wonderful job of finishing them, and the shields add just the right touch. First class all the way!

They look great! Someone is going to have a good Christmas.

Yes.. I hope I can get around to making one for myself... I want to keep them all and so much fun making them.

A couple of questions......

1). Where did you get that "mammoth ivory" stuff.
I am beginning to see knives with those scales. I kinda like it!
2). How did you do your inlays?
I have done inlays in wood before by using an exacto knife... takes time and patience!

The mammoth ivory can be found from certain dealers in fossils or knife accessories. I did searches and found some and have a local person that deals with it near me, about 15 miles away. I try to find the best prices as the mammoth ivory can get very pricey. My inlays are done by hand and some of my shields have templates to assist in removing material to place the shields and some are done by hand using a scribe felt micro tip pen and then slow moving... a lot of the patience part like you said. Hope this helps.
