All About Pocket Knives

Looking for some information about this knife. New York Knife over Walden. I seen a close up of a tang stamp last week, but can't find it now. I believe this knife was made from early 30's back. Number on one blade is 2515. Length approx. 4 1\8 closed. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A New York Knife Co
Would be marked on the back side of Hammer brand tang and on the smaller blade. Imperial used the old Hammer brand stamp 1936-37 When they bought the rights to it, so maybe a very early Imperial. I'm not familiar with their pattern numbers though.

Thanks for the response Greg. The markings on smaller blade is half wore off, but there is enough there to see that it is a New York knife Co. and below Walden.

Looks like a honest knife to me. I am partial to the big cigar jacks like this.

I love that pattern and in my never to humble opinion, New York Knife Co was one of the premier makers of quality knives.
The bow tie shield and ebony or cocobolo handles are just great.

Looks like there is some etch on the master blade left.

Yes there is a faint image on main blade. Looks like Hammer Brand etching. Just a slight wobble with main blade, other than that it is a solid knife. A 93 year old man gave me this knife. He and my mom have been dating for 18 years and she is 89. He says I am a young pup at 58. LOL

Catalog cut from 1922. Also saw it in a 1924 catalog. I didn't look through more catalogs for additional years. In the 1924 catalog they call the handle material cocobolo instead of redwood. I think it's cocobolo and some dealers called that redwood. Oil has likely darkened the appearance on your knife.
