I think it’s been apart and had the blades added. In photo 5 looks like some sanding marks across the pin and bolster area. In photo 12 the bolster looks like it has been worked on a lot. It is very uneven. I may be wrong but that is my take on it.

SMKW and other dealers are still selling bags of Schrade parts from the factory closing. Someone had some fun putting this one together.

That has to be an end-of-days knife or one that an employee put together on their own or something that someone grabbed parts and assembled. I assure you that the knife did not pass Quality Control with three of the same blades in that frame and did not leave the factory as a production mistake.

Chances are that an employee made that knife up for personal use or it was just put together at Schrade the end-of-days so they could sell off some of the inventory before they closed the doors.

Factory Error? No way. I've seen legitimate factory errors before but no one is that stupid.

If all the blades pass, snap and nest, I think it's a neat knife in a weird kind of way. A true Frankenknife.

Hey Doug. He's one of your old customers.

I do think it is pretty neat, but not in a million years could you get me to believe this knife passed QC.

One of the reasons I like schrade so much is because of the excellent QC they had from beginning to end.

The knife has been made up after the factory.
It does not have the swindon system used by Schrade. You can see pins through the bolsters.

I can assure you that I didn't sell that knife to him. I have a few that are in configurations that were never put together by the Schrade factory, but nothing like that.
Here's an 858 with 5 blades.

In case there was a misunderstanding, I was not intimating you sold the knife to him. Was just browsing through his feedback (100% as a buyer) when I noticed your ID.

No worries, Jerry. I didn't take it that way at all...just seemed like an opportunity to show off a little of Hermans work. I do have something pretty special to post that I'd be willing to bet hasn't been seen before. Something that's taken more than a year to talk Herman out of. I should have a picture up on the Schrade Forum within the hour. :D

knifeslinger #81,

I agree with you about the Quality Control of Schrades, of course I am somewhat bias because my Mom was a Senior Quality Control Inspector and my Uncle was over Quality Control at Schrade.....LOL

Taylor copied the knife and called it a 2200T.
