All About Pocket Knives

Any thoughts on this knife? I just picked up quite a large collection and I'm going to be posting a LOT of questions here in the next week. It's got a really interesting closing mechanism shown in the pictures. I know nothing about this knife or its value. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

I can't help with the knife. INOX or INOXABLE means stainless steel.

The closing mechanism is called a swivel bolster. First one I've seen on a stiletto that isn't a switchblade. Cool beans!

EDGECO was a company based in Vermont that for awhile sold,"switchblade kits". The parts were imported from Germany and you could assemble them yourself. As I recall the only assembly required was to install the blade in the handle by means of a screw used for a pivot pin.This was a way to get around the law regarding switchblades but if I remember correctly the government shut them down fairly quickly. I still have a catalog of their products. I'll get it out and post it.
EDIT: Found the catalog but it is a 1994 version that was after they stopped selling the kits. They still had some nice knives(and guns and even a few watches).I'll take some pictures and post them. The OP's knife is listed in there in various handle materials for $39.95.Here is a picture of one of their knife kits.Notice the screw pivot pin.

Found the original catalog dated 1987.Here are some pics of it.Sorry for the darkness of the pics;will get better ones and some of the 1994 catalog.Although some of the knives are Chinese made they actually look to be pretty decent quality.

Thank you for the detailed information knife7knut. I’m thinking this is not a kit knife. It does not have the screw for a pivot pin. I also don’t think it’s a switchblade, because I don’t see a way for it to open automatically. You said you saw it in the ‘94 catalog. Maybe made in the 90’s then? I’m thinking of selling some knives from this collection here on AAPK. I have some Case (nothing too exceptional; one old Tested), some Boker, Kabar, some old fish knives, etc. oh, and lotsa junk too (China, Pakistan, etc.)

The one you have is not a kit knife.After the fiasco with the kit knives the Edge Co. started importing quality knives from all over. The one you have is I believe made by(or for)Kissing Crane(Robert Klaas).In the catalog they have knives by Benchmade ;Benchmark;Boker;Spyderco;Linder and many others.

Love the history lesson! Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. It will be interesting to see what this knife gets on eBay. Or here, if I open a store. The only problem with selling here is that I have to figure out the price. If I sell on eBay, the market determines the price.

Here's a couple Edgeco kits that I bought back in the day. The stag is Italian and the blue Pearlex is from Taiwan, allegedly. As for value there are some people trying to collect the Edgeco branded knives so if you catch a couple of them in an auction you could make out.
