All About Pocket Knives

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a Nelson Knife Company, Germany? This one pictured was one I picked up at the local fleamarket for a buck. It had no bolsters or handles left and quite a bit of rust. I dug it out and started cleaning it up and am going to rehandle it. Problem is without any idea of what it is suppose to look like it's a guessing game. I was wondering if anyone had ever seen or owns one of these. It would be interesting to know if it had bolsters and what handle material it might have had. It is 3 3/8" long, 3 blade of typical whittler construction where the back is tapered so each small blade has its own spring and the two springs work against the large blade. Probably could make it into a shadow pattern whittler without bolsters.That might be neat.I have the Richie and Stewart 5th edition book and all they say is Nelson Knife c1894. Hard to believe that this could be that old.

Only Nelson I see. May give you some ideas?

Thanks for your info. The pictured Nelson knife has blades that are identical in profile, swedge, pull to the one I have. After closer inspection of my Nelson Knife, I can see that it originally had tip bolsters, that is the pivot pins did not go thru the bolsters and there are no conventional handle pin holes. All 3 pin holes go all the way thru and the two end ones are for the blade pivots. It is kind of a neat little whittler and I just wanted to redo it for EDC.

picked one up recently and it is a historical winner. The master is that very thick style blade and the full long bolsters really profile a nice knife. No country of origin so you know it is old. Thanks for sharing.
