It was my dad's old knife

I can't tell you who made it but this is what I know.
It's a sleeveboard pattern (named after a type of ironing board used to press sleeves).
It has two springs and at one time had two blades on the opposite side of the existing blade.
I would guess it was a whittler type knife having one large blade on one side (existing blade) and two smaller on the other.
The large blade would center between the two smaller when closed.
It has what looks to be Rogers Bone handles.

If I had to venture a guess I would say it is Remington or PAL.

Bruno's example is a Remington. Since there is not a shield on the one you have I suspect it was pieced together by PAL after they took over Remington. Just a guess though.

Could be a Remington R3943.They made a single blade large sleeveboard with no shield. I don't recall anyone else having such a pattern.

Strange. I have the exact same knife. Bought it a year ago in Tulsa. Someone had removed the two small blades and added a spacer. It is my favorite edc knife. There was a note on the knife stating it was a Cattarugus. I assumed they removed the tang stamp since the knife was altered.

Valley27 welcome to AAPK. I have my doubts that your knife is missing any blades. The way the backspring curls around the end of the knife looks more like a closed end than one which once had blades butting against it. Could you take a close up shot of the end without the blades both from the top looking down into the bladewell and looking at the butt end straight on ? That will help determine if there ever were any blades installed on that end of the knife.

I don't get the twin springs. At first I thought it was a whittler with the two secondary blades missing but after blowing up the bottom end, it doesn't look like there ever were any secondary blades.

Seems odd that a single blade knife would have two backsprings.

Assembled from leftover parts? Had master blades, springs, frames and handle slabs from whittler pattern, but not enough secondary blades. Just double up the springs, leave off the secondaries.

It's well known that a lot of old Catt parts were bought and assembled after the factory closed. Some into patterns Catt never made. I'm just speculating.

Maybe they wanted the width, but they didn't want a big strong spring that would take your finger off?

Philco - here are a couple of pictures that you asked for.

Thanks for the additional photos. That knife did NOT have secondary blades. Ken's thought that it may be assembled from spare parts has some plausibility, but the "spare" backsprings would not likely have covered the end like the ones shown do. Those backsprings were made for a knife with blades at only one end. I'm not sure why it has two springs rather than one single spring, but I'm sure it's got plenty of snap. I really like that big full blade and that swedge it's sporting.

The knife looks to me like it could be one of these? However, there are no photos that show the backspring configuration on these knives.
Just took a closer look at the second link, Obsidian Edge does mention, in his post, that the main blade rides on two springs.

I had one of these knives about a year ago. It’s funny cause their was no tang stamp on it anywhere. I do believe that the knife was made with one blade and not altered. The spacer at the bottom is a hard plastic type substance. It puzzled a lot of people as I asked around relentlessly to try and find out any info I could, with zero success. Great knife though and had a very pronounced snap as I recall.

Remington certainly made such a knife and some of them were a premium give-away for some magazine or something.

Mike Roebuck has posted a mint example here and over at BF before.

It also had two springs.
