All About Pocket Knives

Just bought this Imperial fish knife at my local antique store. It has P2170537 on the master. It has Beverage Can Opener with the numbers 2361-889 Pat Appld. Does anyone know the approximate age? Thanks.

Sent a close up pic of the tang to Ed Landers who informed me that the date range on this one is 1946 to 1956. Thanks Ed!!

Your Pat Appld. for date # 2361-889 was issued by the U.S. Patent Office in late 1944 for the "Beverage Can Opener" design.
However, your knife may have been mfg. at a later date.
Pretty cool, I have never seen that type of opener before.

I actually had a nice Case fish knife which I gifted my brother who promply lost it! I have knives that I have kept for decades. It suprises me that some folks can lose them so easily! LOL. I always liked that pattern. Reminds me of some "fisherman" I have known. Seems they where more concerned about opening a beer than catching fish. LOL!

LOL! yep. I think I may have been one of them earlier in my life! But they always had a pop top. Thanks for looking at the ole gal. It has a thin blade and I sliced an apple with with slices as thin as tater chips! Good little slicer!

hey woodwalker- I recently found a similar Imperial at a thrift store. Thought you might like seeing the photos. Looks like it’s from around 1942 according to the numbers.

Take that back on the year. Think I was looking at the wrong number.

Pat Appld for this opener looks like it was in 1955.

TR congratts on a fine acquisition!! Yours is very clean!! You will like that puppy! Blades are nice and thin and will sharpen scary sharp with that nice Carbon Imperial blade. When you want to cut something nice and thin it will do the job!! Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.
