When was this knife made?
And how much is it worth?
It is in perfect working condition .

I would be happy to give any and all information needed to find out more about this pretty knife. It's in perfect working condition, and I think it's bone handle?...I'm old school, so I'll have to wait until my girl gets here to show a pic.

I think George Schrade invented the Presto mechanism and formed his own knife company to make and sell them.
To answer your question: yes it is fine to ask knife value here and there are many very experienced collectors here who can provide accurate knife information. However without pictures any assessment is just a guess and knowledgeable people will not do this.
Show entire knife, both sides, blades closed and both sides blades open. Then show enlarged close ups of any markings. No flash, high overcast outside works very well. Use a tripod. they only cost $25 and the result is sharper in focus pictures.
Sure get your daughter to show you and then beginning doing it yourself. There is no bigger computer doofuss than myself. If i can learn to take & post digital pictures, so can you. But it takes courage to start.

Posting pictures here is easy. Go to this link viewforum.php?f=98. There are posts about how to post pictures from a PC, Android, and iPhone. Scroll down through the posts until you find the one pertaining to your equipment (iPhone is toward the bottom and iPad works the same way).

Also, there is an extensive sub-forum here concerning automatic opener knives. viewforum.php?f=86 If you look through there you'll likely find your knife and some information about it.

Even with adding pictures for evaluation, 'value' can still be very subjective. What the market will bear is a good metric for assessing value, and feebay is one good place to look and see what buyers are paying for certain knives. You'll also find that many of us that are strictly collectors do not care about value in a monetary since. Resell and or profit isn't our motivation while the joy of owning and sharing our collection with others is.

Yes, I will also reinforce the idea that value is very subjective on items like knives. I have seen things on Ebay that absolutely make you scratch your head both ways. That is you think to yourself, "wow, I would have thought that knife would bring more that that". And the other way also, "who would pay that much money for that knife". And dating a knife is also a very subjective issue. With some manufacturers, knives can be dated to the year, with others only to a decade or two (or even larger) time span. In short dating is usually a ball park number, and value is what you can get some one to pay you for the knife on a given day.

There is also the issue that vintage american automatic knives can't be sold on ebay, and some of the sites that do sell them do not have very good reputations. (*cough* autoknife *cough*)
