That thing got a Hemi in it?

I have been working on this woodcarving project for a friend of mine who bought a 2014 Dodge Challenger (yes, it does have a Hemi in it). He showed me the original shift knob which is made of black plastic and had two cracks in it. He asked me to "create something" to replace the broken plastic and gave me the shift lever to work with as the car is in storage for the winter. I devised this carved black walnut replacement. The finish is 4 coats of Birchwood Casey Tru Oil gunstock finish. Should be better looking and it is just slightly larger than the original to be more of a handful. Like I told him "it is a hand carved, hand sanded, handful of walnut for when you have your hands full of Hemi power".

The original MOPAR black plastic shift handle.

Another outstanding piece of work Olde Cutler. That looks super and a lot better than the original. And enjoyed seeing your weapons as well.

O.C.

Perhaps you got yourself a new hobby (and can make a few bucks on the side)

I am sure there are many autos that would look better with your one of a kind knob.

In the off season, when the car is in storage, that'll make a fine tapper handle.....gotta love multi-purpose things ::tu::

I will mention that to my buddy. LOL Carving this project was almost the same as back in the day (1970s) when I made some thumb rest grips for 22 target pistols. Really tough to beat walnut for a project like this.

Thanks for all your comments.

Love Walnut and that will age so beautifully to a fantastic rich patina. Kudos OC.
