All About Pocket Knives

Posted this little jewel on other sites. No takers. Only marking is the tang stamp. WHOS IT-WHATS IT???

Pattern is an Equal end Lobster knife. It is also a "multi blade" with 7 'blades' plus 2 tools in the handle end, looks like 1 is there and 1 is missing ?
Handles are horn. The mushroom ? logo is new to me, could be German or French. Scissor spring is missing. Guessing at age: before WW II and possibly from before WW I.
Neat little (?) knife but not valuable in terms of money. Horn handled old multi blades/lobster knives are seen fairly often on ebay and they do not get a lot of bids

Joe, somehow I knew if I was going to get an answer it was going to come from you. Yes, the spring and tool are missing. About the mushroom logo. It looks to me like 2 bugles/horns crossed. Does that ring any bells? When I found it, it was in a leather pouch (attached) with this different looking snap. Snap origin Knife origin? Now that I said that, seems stupid..oh well...age has its privileges.

Thanks again Joe for your extra effort. The da.. thing got under my skin, cause I found it buried in the bottom a Dads old toolbox and he died 5 years ago at 96. So thought maybe it might be special...oh.3" closed

I haveleather knife pouches like the one you show. The leather around the female part of snap tends to rot and break off with snap in closed position. A knife pouch cannot be used to date the knife because there is no way to know if it is original to the knife it now holds.
If i come across this logo i will post the associated name.

I was also going to guess French or German. Whenever I see an old knife with a corkscrew, my first thought is French.

Here is an example of irrelevance in posting: I get the two trumpets but after long, very long, study under magnification the stamp turned into a twin engined DC3 with a grotesque tail. I need to get more sleep.

I don't have a picture but i have a heap of fancy multiblades, minis and full size. Ray & i could have a "Multiblade Off" to see whose pile is bigger !
My piles are bigger than yours !

Could very well be Roland.....BUT......Do you have a multiblade with MORE blades than this one?

Well, i do have a 10 thick SAK. Does this count ?
But certainly other than SAK i do not have such thick multiblades.

Seventeen.Starting from one side we have a:can opener-scissors-clip blade- cap lifter/fish scaler/hook disgorger-spear blade(the only blade that locks)-saw-caping blade-bird gut hook-can opener/screwdriver combo.
The other side:pruning blade- combination cap lifter/can opener/shot shell extractor-Seton's needle-another skinning blade w/o a safety tip-a long curved punch blade(not sure of it's function)-a cap lifter /larger screwdriver.
Spine side:corkscrew-Phillips screwdriver.
Made in Italy with stag handles and brass bolsters.Weighs about a lb.(tried weighing it;didn't work).When I bought it someone had made a pouch for it out of a leather cigarette package holder.
Probably better to take it and put it in a heavy woolen sock and use it for a club.
The other one in the picture is Pakistani made and is essentially two five blade stockman knives put together on a common frame. Paid ten bucks for it in a pawn shop awhile back.

It is completely unmarked on all the blades. Does your knife have a ring on the back side?

Yes it does;on the lock release.Mine is marked,"Rostfrei" on the spear blade and,"Stainless Italy" on the clip blade.

Thanks, when I first found it I thought it might be from Germany now that I know yours is marked It's good to know where it's from
