All About Pocket Knives

I have the chance to buy an 1890s Miller Bro US Navy gravity knife.
Does anyone know what value range these would have? I would like to give my friend a fair price.
It’s in nice shape with a nice blade.

Need some pictures of the knife to give you an evaluation. Your description is sorta like asking if you want to take my girlfriend's room mate out on a date. She's a good cook and doesn't sweat much!

These knives in good well used condition would be priced in $100 increments starting at about $300 and rising quickly dependent on condition. $300, $400, $500, $600 etc.

I did a Google image search for a WWII Miller Brothers gravity knife and turned up nothing, don't think I've ever seen one in a reference book before. However, I do know what Safety Deposit Boxes look like but I don't think I'd purchase anything based on the look of the box.

You wouldn't, Miller Brothers went out of business in 1926.

From Google and the bottom two are already on AAPK somewhere.

If I am not mistaken Miller Bros made a gravity knife as a rope knife like Charlie's first photo and another with a spear point blade... I've handled one intended to be a rope knife - it is one big hefty knife for sure!! Not an easy knife to find at all...

Hep.... not familiar with knife or term gravity knife. Is it in the operation of the knife while opening?

Buddyie22 - No springs in a gravity knife - it actually works by gravity I think I can help you out here.. The knife works by holding the handle so the tip of the knife would be pointed down.. you hit the lever lock button on the handle (as shown in the photos that Charlie posted) and the weight of the blade when the lever lock is pushed allows the blade to drop out of the handle and lock opened... Push the lever lock again to close the knife but handle turned up so blade drops back into handles. Not a great knife for astronauts ...

The asking price on Miller gravity navy rope knife in very good or better condition if you can find one at a show usually starts around1500. Usually you can talk the seller down a bit but they will get it if they are willing to hold on until someone who needs to fill in a spot in a collection will pay.
