Waking up the Roosters.

The Rooster forum has been rather quiet lately. Thought I would wake them up.

By 1994 Frank Buster "Cuz" had built over 300 different three blade "Stockman" knives with various handle materials, measuring 3-¾".
I have many Fight'n Rooster knives, mostly in the stockman pattern pictured below.
Most of my Roosters were obtained in the early 1980s through the early 1990s from "Clarence Risner" of Spring Valley, Ohio via land-line and when he attended the yearly So. Ca. Blade Shows.
The below stockman are also all celluloid. I have lost celluloid knives in the past due to outgassing, but they are not all time bombs. I have 100 year old plus celluloid handled knives that are fine. Just keep an eye on them and keep them clean and segregated. Collectors know when to take action. One should not be afraid to enjoy celluloid handled knives.

What a beautiful and impressive collection of knives you have Dan. I've always run a little scared of celluloid handled knives but they do have a visual appeal that is hard to match and I do own a few. Thanks for taking the time to post yours here. ::tu::

The only thing more impressive than your knives is the time and effort it took to set all that up and take those pictures. Because after all that, you had to put everything back. Very nice collection, very colorful and pleasing to the eye. My favorite is the only one that doesn't have bolsters.

Thank you for taking the time to share those with us Dan. ::nod::

Excellent collection...I have one of the Folsom Prison 1-600's....came to me with no handles, I've put some exotic wood floor sample (HARD wood) on for scales.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, much appreciated.

Great work with the "Exotic wood" handle repair SMH. Floor sample scales...wow, very ingenious.

I have been rearranging my entire knife display cabinet to correspond with Manufacturer rather then Pattern. Big time consuming job.
Just the Rooster Stockmans was a sun up, to past sun down job. ::tired::

Dan, beautiful Rooster collection. Several years ago I had a large pearl Rooster collection. I always enjoyed visiting with Cuz, he was always full of great ideas. I now collect antique Remingtons but still love those Roosters. Thus my AAPK handle, Pearlroosterman....... thanks again for sharing. John

Thanks John.
Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to meet or talk with Mr. Buster.
Below is my favorite Rooster Stag and Pearled handled International Club knife set of two. I have #003 of 200 made in 1992.

Thank you for the info and your compliment Kennedy Knives.
If that ole Southern Boy was visiting Germany, than I am assuming something is up?
I would love to see Fight'n Rooster re-appear in my shopping cart. ::nod::

I have noticed that very few folks reply to posts made in the Fight'n Rooster Collector's Forum.

I guess I missed seeing this thread back in April. That is a stunning collection, Dan. I think that Fank Buster's knives are some of the best looking made in the last half of the last century. Celluloid can look really good! I only have a few Fight'n
Roosters myself.

I appreciate the effort you made to get those knives shined up, lined up, and photographed. If you are like me you had to dust them too. Very nice stuff!

Thank you Mel ::handshake::
My Roosters remain one of my many favorites.
Yes, it was quite time consuming to prep them for the photo display. Once I got started I could not quit.
