All About Pocket Knives

This is another unusual pocket knife I found on Cape Cod. It bears no markings on the blade. There is, however, an “S” on the tail of the mermaid on one side of the knife. While the mermaid part of the figure seems standard, the female part reminds of those carvings of Indian women seen on old temple walls. Is that a gold wash? Any info would be much appreciated.

You have two nice interesting knives, sorry I can't help you, but someone will probably come by and give you info on them.

The handles appear to be made of brass and are reminiscent of knives that were made in Thailand.As the old name of Thailand was Siam that may be what the S stands for.

Wow! Just wow! Thanks very much for such a spot on piece of information! That Wikipedia piece explains explains the Asian style of the mermaid...and her name: S as in Suvannamaccha. I can see that this is an amazing website for knife info.
