Bone handled fish knives

I had put this green bone scaled knife on E-Bay to sell and sold. The buyer returned it saying that the scales weren't original. I received this knife from a Uncle back in the 80's an couldn't imagine him going through the trouble of replacing the handles. The knife is in really great condition. I guess my question is did KaBar produce or have someone make fish knives with Bone scales. The only information or pictures I can find are of the yellow & black plastic handled ones. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I've never seen that particular Kabar knife with that type of handle. Best guess not original.

The Kabar 5" 229 model was produced with bone handles, but typically had a hook sharpening stone. As far as I know, none of the 4-1/4" models were ever produced with bone handles and all Kabar fishing knives I've ever seen also had the sharpening stone, but I could be wrong. Good looking knife, regardless.

I have never seen a KABAR fish knife with bone handles.

In any case, the handles on the posted knife are not old bone, definitely recently jigged and dyed bone.

Given that yellow handles are the worst in terms of outgassing and decomposing, a LOT of older Case fish knives were rehandled by amateur knife mechanics. Less so for Kabar and other brands.

I like the OP's knife. Not original, but nice.
