All About Pocket Knives

Is anyone on this forum able to ID these German made throwing knives? I bought these knives, when our sons were around ages five, and six, in around 1958. The knives were used on our family camping trips, and at home, playing knife throwing games. The knives have been misplaced under old camping gear since then, and I found them today. There is no maker's name on the knives, or the leather sheath. On the leather sheath, it is stamped, MADE IN GERMANY, on one side of the sheath, and on the other it is printed in black letters, 412 followed by a small triangle. The knives are unmarked, chrome plated, and two are painted green, the other, painted orange. They must be extremely tough, as they have received a great amount of use, and are still undamaged. finding these knives sure brought back memories, of good times gone by. The youngest son has been deceased forty five years now. I don't remember anything about where, or when, I bought the knife set, or what I paid for it, but, I would sure like to know who made it. The knife set's finish is in poor condition, and wouldn't interest most knife collectors, but it means "All the world to me". Help ID it please?

I have one that looks the same with a blue handle. Blade is marked "Voss Cutlery Co/Germany". There was (or is ?) a German manufacturer of knives named "Voss" beginning in early 1900's. There was also a Voss Cutlery Co. business in NYC that imported knives from Germany made by various manufacturers, often Hen & Rooster.
Is the Voss Cutlery Co. marking on my knife the manufacturer Voss or the importer Voss ? Also even if it is the manufacturer's mark it does not mean that manufacturer made the knife. There has always been a lot of contracting out between the 100 or more Solingen cutlery manufacturers. Furthermore there were (are ?) companies that specialized in making knife parts that were then sold to numerous knife manufacturers.
Sut do you throw these by holding blade end or handle end or either ?

Those throwing knife sets were advertised in the backs of multiple men and boys magazines for many years.

Something brings the name "KnifeCrafters" to mind.

They were not very expensive.

Your knife looks identical, and the sheath does also. I have no doubt that our knives were made by the same maker. My picture showing the back of my sheath and it's markings was omitted in my original post. Why? I'll include it again. In answer to your question, I started throwing knives by holding them by the tip of the blade. That was the way that my much older friend, that was just out of the armed services, after WW 2, did it. We practiced throwing knives, and he was also, an aspiring knife maker. Thanks for your help, on the ID of my throwing knives.

I have a lot of throwing knives, most are unmarked, the ones that are were made by most major German cutlery companies. So if it is unmarked like your set it is almost impossible to determine who made it, the only clue in your case is the number on the sheath which could be the stock number of the set.

Another possibility is Wilhelm Clauberg of Solingen Germany.
