Here I am out in the heat working on a fence and the pups are smarter than me. Lol. They’re taking it easy.

Well, they will chase rabbits and tree squirrels. Kill opossums too. But they ain’t no hound dogs. Those are at dad’s house. These are my stock dogs.

Is a "stock dog" a breed or your mix of various breeds that gives good reliable dogs for farm help ?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. They are English Shepherds.

Roland, basically English Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, and Collies all descend from the same basic gene pool.

An English Shepherd is a lot like a border collie that isn’t neurotic! Lol

Had them as a kid.
Got married and got a dog. Had to leave it behind when we got orders for Germany.
Got a sheltie as soon as we got back state side. Had to put him down after 13 wonderful years.
Then the kids each got a dog, then they moved out.
With both Becky and I working, it makes it difficult. I WILL NOT keep a dog in a crate while we're at work!
Someday when when one of quits working we'll own another. ::pray::

CATS ARE NOT ALLOWED, SO DON'T EVEN MAKE THE SUGGESTION!
We refuse to collect poop in a box. ::huff::

Both my wife & I are "dog people" - we've had dogs our entire lives, except for the years we were in college. Now that the kids are both out of the house, the dog gets most of the attention!

Steve I agree with you on all counts. I don’t even like my dogs in the house. We have a big fenced backyard where one group stays and the other set is in the barn lot protecting the chickens and the goats. (We have a male and two females in each group). A couple of them will come in the house for a minute or two, and one of them wants nothing at all to do with the house. They’d rather be chasing squirrels, digging moles, and barking at the neighbor’s cows and the deer.

Cats in the house need not apply!

Wade those are fine looking pups. Dogs really liven up life, I would never want to be without one.
