This guy lists them for a week; nobody buys them; takes a break for a month or two; re-lists them... etc. They are re-handles and there is no trace of original finish on the metal. Not Schrade bone, although the stockman might have some German bone provided to Schrade by Jim Parker in 1978 ish.

Are you saying that the knives are original Schrades that have been rehandled and the blades refinished? Did Schrade not use that jigging? The blades look full, though I will say the the machining marks are absent or else quite faint. I have a Schrade with fairly similar bone and a polished blade. I always assumed it was original; maybe I was wrong?
Here is a photo of the 787 that is on Ebayfor posterity, and of my 804 for comparison.

Two with the same kind of bone suggests to me that I might have been wrong about the muskrat. Very unusual bone for that vintage of Schrade. Never say never with Schrade.

The blades on both knives look to be factory finish to me, but the bone is unusual.

I have a couple of those Schrade Walden carpenter's whittlers including a mint one with the "Everlastingly Sharp" etch. Both have the usual Schrade peachseed bone which is not at all like dinadan's example. I don't like the color of the bone on dinadan's whittler but maybe it's the computer. I do have a mint Schrade Walden Jr. stockman with a "hand made" shield and Maher & Grosch etch that has a different (not peachseed) bone. I am no Schrade expert but the muskrat does look pretty good, I'll wait for the real Schrade guys to chime in.

The handles on the stockman have definitely been replaced, and the muskrat shows a couple tells which make me believe they are not original either.

Here you go Paul, 804, secondary blades and back of main blade have glaze finish as is proper.

Here's the 834 Paul, again, back of main and secondary blades have glaze finish. Hard to get the "HAND MADE" shield to show well.

Thanks for the photos Gunsil. Those are both very fine old schrades, and are not common especially in such nice condition. The 804 has standard peachseed bone and the 834 has the jig that followed peachseed for a brief period of time before schrade dropped bone entirely (except for limited runs later on). Some call it "wavy" jig. I see nothing out of the ordinary with either knife.

I did not think there was any problem with these. I have been collecting knives for over fifty years and have had these for close to forty. I have sold off most of my mint Schrade Cut Cos and Waldens, never had any interest in Schrades newer than these. These two will likely be among the last to go since I love the exceptional condition. I have had and sold a bunch of them from Albert Baer's knife rolls that Mark Levine purchased many years ago. Mostly keeping my KA-BARs and slowly selling the others since I am getting older and like a little more cash than social security provides.
