All About Pocket Knives

I was gave this knife a few years ago from a lady after I helped clean out her family’s old general store, never really gave it much thought until I started thinning my collection out. Was found as pictured wrapped up in the pumpkin box. Appears to me to be a double stamp tang mark. Is this a counterfeit or a actual mistake from factory? I’ve never cleaned or polished the knife had the rust when I acquired it. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Factory mistake. For 70's Case knives, double stamps are fairly common.

Because of the staining on the blades, the value is more as a user, maybe 65 to 75. Mint would be in the 100 to 125 range.

The double stamp adds nothing to the knife's value, if that's your question.

It seems like a factory error only becomes more valuable only when it pertains to a number of knives in a run like the extra 1 in the Case swing guard or the ten dot Buffalo knife. A one off error or double stamp is usually not a big deal.

I wouldn't go to work until I had put a drop of oil on the two hinges and dropped it in my pocket so I could admire and use that fine old Case Knife! OH
