All About Pocket Knives

Hello everyone, I found a little knife in the woods a few weeks ago and was researching it to see who the manufacturer of the knife was. I have been unable to find anything on it. No markings on it except a few numbers identifying the blade as stainless steel. Attached is a picture, anyone know who manufactured it. It was found after a heavy rain, part of it became uncovered. Thanks for any help.

I can't help you with your knife, I'm not familiar with those markings, but it does not appear to be an expensive knife.
Someone else should be along soon and perhaps they will know more about your knife than I do.

Is there a marking on the back side tang ?
All knives imported into USA must have a marking showing country of origin. Some knives from China have a very light and tiny blade etch "China", that can be rubbed off in about 30 seconds. I think it is a China made knife. It is a big mistake to assume China = junk. China produces every kind of knife, from very poor quality to best in the world. Yours looks to be a decent knife. Has it been used ? Look at edge with a good magnifying glass. Will it push cut paper ? I ask because knives from China often arrive with a very sharp edge.

The AISI 420 is a grade of stainless steel and contrary to what Dale (orvet) said, I think it's a very inexpensive knife. The figural bolsters appear to be cast (or maybe stamped) instead of engraved.

Jerry, you & Dale are saying the same thing. You missed the "not": Quote Orvet: "it does not appear to be an expensive knife."

Yup - whenever I see engraving and no recognizable tang stamp, my first thought is Pakistan. Any custom knife makers out there should take note of how many people make this assumption!

Sharpen it then cut a bunch of different things and then tell us if it is a good knife, which would mean: lock up is tight, no play, edge can be made quite sharp and sharpness is held through quite a few cuts. Regardless of where it was made, it could well be a 'good knife'.

Exactly. Recently I got a cheap little giveaway knife advertising Raybestos brake pads, and while I thought it would be a junker I'd give away, I sharpened it up and started carrying it. It's been a nice little knife. Same goes with a Chinese Winchester Trapper I got in a lot.

Thanks everyone, I did not think it was worth much, I could even tell when I picked it up. I took a magnifying glass over the whole knife and the only other marking on it, which was next to the numbers identifying the blade as stainless steel, was a etched picture of a Centaur, half man half horse holding a bow and arrow. That is it. To bad it was not at least made in America.
