They banned common sense years ago, guess they're making their way down the alphabet.

Straws are banned, but if you need a needle for your drugs, they hand those out for free. Then they end up on the sidewalk or in the grass where you or your kids can step on them. Same left coast liberal nonsense as taxing sodas while subsidizing drugs.

It seems to me when I was a kid straws were made of paper. In fact we chewed them up to make "spitwads". Why not go back to those? They're biodegradable and certainly adequate for drinking. ::shrug:: Oh, I forgot - paper is made from trees. We surely can't have that! ::smirk::

Ken, that is exactly what they are doing - switching to paper-based straws. Many places have already made the switch. You ever tried to drink a milk shake through a paper straw? It collapses on the first suck. And by the time you get through your 44 oz Super Big Gulp, your straw is a limp noodle.

I'm thinking of starting a black market import business for plastic straws and styrofoam cups. I'll be a billionaire!

IMHO a milkshake worthy of having is so thick it will collapse a plastic straw too - you need to eat it with a spoon.

Probably a valid point about the 44 oz Big Gulp but I wouldn't know - haven't drank a soda in years. But I do like my iced tea! I suppose tea would decompose a paper straw also, but IIRC they made some that were wax-coated and lasted a good while longer. I'm sure something in those would require a Kalifornia Prop 65 label though. ::hmm::

I don't remember having much trouble back in the day with paper straws, of course the glue that held them together was probably full of lead or something else that was bad for us, and they can't use that anymore. Saw on the net several weeks ago that several major fast food restaurants were going to paper straws. ::shrug::

liked the movie The Hell Fighters. John Wayne put out the oil rig fires. My wife puts her straws in the silverware part of the dishwasher. Here is another. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. A lady book writer? is chastising her lakefront home in Holland. Because it has eight dishwashers and much to many shingles. Jealous much? When I have time I"m going to drive by it.

Yes it is! Based somewhat on the true story of Cynthia Parker who was kidnapped as a child and "adopted" and lived many years as a Comanche. Like John Wayne's character Ethan Edwards in the movie, her Uncle spent years searching for her.

One of the few movies where John Wayne wore a straw hat.

Along the lines of the plastic straws comes the information that California is proposing a law to make it illegal to serve anything but unflavored milk or water as a beverage to children.
We all need to move out there to the left coast where we can be protected from our selves. I suppose the Weatherby rifle folks did get the message, I just read they are moving operations to Wyoming. ::stir::
