What can you tell me about this 25OT, is it a latter model , I was told the earlier ones had a tapered sheath ? It is USA , very clean , I dont think it was ever used , this is a ebay pic , looks better after I wiped it down a little with Flitz , wanted a good one for deer hunting , a lot on there where sharped some , does this one appear to be full blades ? Thanks .

You will like that knife. It appears to be @ 100% or near. The earlier ones did indeed have tapered sheaths but they are quite uncommon. You can tell a pre-1973 hunter because the nail nick on the master blade is forward of the 'point' on top of the spine. You don't even have to look at the tang-stamp to see this. I am assuming that your knife has a "Walden" stamp? One of my favorite knives.

These Schrade Walden folding hunter sheaths for the 225 and 225H (pre-Old Timer) are rather rare.

no it dosent have the Walden stamp on it , so it it appears to be pre 73 ?

I believe it to be right on the cusp of 1973 changeover to Schrade from Schrade Walden. 1973. No earlier and no later.

Looks like a mighty fine knife, it'll surely relieve Bambi of his britches! I've several different brands of folding hunters and they all do the job. My personal favorite is a Queen # 39 and probably the reason I use it over the Old Timers, Cases, Kabars, etc. is that I've used it so many years. You'll probably find the 25OT to be a great knife. They always took a good edge on my experience.

Fine looking knifes ! I just got it to shaving on the Lansky , so iam ready if I do get a deer , I see what tonequever was talking about on the nail nick , closer to the tip , pre 73 , more in middle , after 73 , love to find a good old sheath like those sometime for it , if anyone finds a extra they don't want in real good shape , let me know , thanks .

The bottom one is an open stock 225H. Is the top one a Chicago Cutlery?
Not counting the fake 'scrimshaws,' I would bet a complete collection of Schrade folding hunters could approach 100 different knives. Don't forget the ones for Buck and Sears. Schrade CutCo, Schrade Walden, Imperial Schrade, Imperial, Bone, celluloid, fibestos, Delrin sawcut, Delrin Staglon, wood, 3 pin, 5 pin, sabre-ground, flat-ground, Wonda-Edge, lanyard hole, no lanyard hole, one blade linerlock, two-blade, stainless, non-stainless, etc. and several SFOs. Oh... and would you like one done up by Herman Williams? I saw an Ulster U.S.A. the other day but I let it be. Only one I have ever seen.

I have never seen "The Lemon" before. Calvin you often post the rarest ones.
In my picture looking down onto closed blades, top knife, second down and fourth down are 225OT, the secondary is a saw blade which you can see over hangs the end of the caps just enough to lift it open with a finger tip.
And yes, top one has walnut handles made for Chicago Cutlery.

At some point Schrade made this one, a 226OT, originally in 'sawcut' Delrin for the European market; it also differed, being in stainless steel. Herman Williams worked on this one slightly.

That's pretty fancy ! Wow, one of the most unique H.W. Schrades. This might be the only H.W. folding hunter with a saw blade.
I did not know about the stainless 226OT. I would like to find one.

Schrade also made a single blade version, the 126OT in stainless steel for the European market.
The one I have has white Delrin handles like the SC series, but no fake scrimshaw on it.
I'll have to get a picture of mine and added to this topic.

I had one of those in the original version, with sawcut handles and a "440-C" blade etch. Sold it to some AAPK mate, I think.

LT grew up near the factory and even worked for them after he retired, until they closed.
I recall the knife, I believe it was a true prototype made at the Schrade factory.

A 126OT and a 3 blade Hatchet Folding Hunter, and a 5 pin lemon cell, and a Wonda edge F.H., and i thought i knew this pattern well. Live & learn and Post and learn.Thanks for showing these truly rare Schrade knives.
