I have a old switchblade I have had for many years, it is very u ique I. That it doesn't have a spring steel spring and it firing mechanism seems to be in the bolster. I seen one last year sell for quit a bit of money, and itlf I remember right it said Frank B but it doesn't look like any Frank B I have ever seen. Here are a few pics

Looks French made to me, I haven't seen one quite like it but has most characteristics of a French knife.

Not familiar with it, but on SD forums it is the knife pictured with his screen name "jerryd25". Maybe 5his will help. Love the knife... Taz

It’s a Spanish made copy of a French pattern. The two French models are leaf spring fired while this is coilspring fired. The French models are very well made with a heavy nickel silver top bolster. One has a rectangular button and a sliding safety. The other had a somewhat oval button that pivots to the side to act as a safety. They are the 9th and 10th pictures down on this page of my website http://www.autoknife.info/French_1.html

I found this switchblade in a box of busted up knives at a knife show. I bought it mainly just to reverse engineer. It looks pretty old. The spring for the button is broken and I don't see any evidence of a locking mechanism. The one remaining handle doesn't appear to be bone and it looks original but slapped on.I cannot find a manufacturer's name or mark on the blade. Does anyone have a best guess at how old it might be or who would have made it? Would it have had a locking mechanism or would the button spring (now missing) have been so strong that it took enough pressure to open the blade that it would have been the safety?

Looks like a pic lock and I don't think it was until the late 50's or early 60,s when they switched to a swivel bolster release. Pics. of the Tang stamp would help.

I've looked all over the blade and there is no tang stamp. I cannot find any markings.

It's a pre-1960 picklock. The handle is cow horn, not bone.
There was an "L" shaped safety, held in place by the front scale, that slid under the button

Thank you. I'm excited about disassembling it and putting it back together.
