Wrong frame, wrong dog's head shield, wrong jigging, wrong bolsters. Looks like stainless steel. Looks new because it is new.

Wayne you have a good eye and a lot of knowledge on knives. I appreciate posts like this that picture and explain the issues with a knife. It helps dolts like me learn a little more.

This is not the first one of these I have seen. KA-BAR never did make a pattern like that, a shame some folks are bidding away their cash on it.

Thanks here, too. I believe I've recently read other critical comments regarding that seller. Several months ago I bought & immediately returned one knife from that seller, so I'm a bit cautious myself.
How about an unabashed plug for the AAPK stores? I don't see that kind of thing here.

I don't know where this seller is getting his items from. He recently had a slew of really great part knives including switchblades that went for big $. He also recently sold a lot of Case Classic knives with issues. He must have hit a treasure trove or warehouse of knives and parts that were accumulated for years. Look at his completed listings. Amongst the junk are some very desirable items.

I'm quite smitten by a lot of the knives but my problem is I often can't tell the junk from the very desirable.

I personally wouldn't bid on a good/real knife from a seller that regularly sells fakes. This seller is at or near the top of that list.

Make that 3.
I've seen a few nice legitimate knives mixed in with the junk but I just shake my head and pass them by. There's a couple of other sellers in this same category. I won't buy from them either.

Take a look at this Gunstock muskrat with a small cutout but no nail nick in sight.

Another grateful dolt here! The Counterfeit Watch forum has become the first thing I check when I visit AAPK. If I'm ever tempted by another knife on eBay, I'm running it past you guys first.

Greg, you are usually right on, on these faked knives. I know nothing about Stainless Cutlery Co New York, but the cut out seemed to line up with the nail nick to me. Also the knife looked good. I usually can spot fakes from across the room. I am probably wrong, hope the guys will check this one out. Trying to keep learning.

You may be right Harold. At first glance I didn't even see that nail nick but after magnification I see it now. My failing eyes have gotten me in trouble again.

Stainless Cutlery Co. was a Camillus Co. So I would expect that to be a Camillus pattern but I don't recall amuskrat with square bolsters. Perhaps someone will e lighten me.

OK from the same seller. What is the difference between a costume knife and a counterfeit knife?

OK at least it's a straight X, but not much else straight here - I think.

A costume knife is one you can take trick or treating. Junk in other words.

Apparently a costume knife is one that is masquerading as something it’s not.

I thought I remembered seeing this knife. It sold on Jan. 9,2019 for $56.95 and had a crack in the scale . Maybe he just repaired it. Still not certain it's authentic though.

Well if that's not the same knife then that must be a good parrern.
