Not the guy to answer the question but the scales sure look Queen. Good pick up.

The etches are often worn off fairly easily, so IMHO it could easily be a legit Queen made during the period when they used only etches and no tang stamps. I'm no expert, but it sure looks like a Queen to me.

Wildcat, I agree with doglegg about the scales. To me the frame looks like Queen as well. I think it more likely that somebody replaced the blade on an otherwise legitimate Queen. But I expect a Queen specialist will come along and enlighten both of us.

What is the closed length of your knife? Is it a single blade? I would almost bet the farm it is a real Queen, the imitation Winterbottom handles are pretty convincing and as was already mentioned there was a time when Queen didn't stamp the tangs, 1961-71+/-.

wildcat,
Looks like we're going to have to wait on one of the experts to identify your knife. My limited resources only show 2 swell center knives close to that size, one is a pattern # 56 but it has two blades, the main being a clip.
Going to wait patiently with you to find out more.

Queen was known for making up batches of non-catalog knives out of odd parts that had accumulated in the factory. I recall very well in the 1990's that a flood of that particular single-blade swell center knife hit the knife marketplace. So yes, it is real, but not a standard Queen catalog knife.
