I do remember the days when the Cutco man came to the house and show his stuff off. Way back then they (as I remember) were very good knives. One of the things that my mom liked about them is they were dishwasher safe (I come from a family of 8 kids). Lots of dish washing then... ...Dang kids eat a lot back then.

I ran across this use one and won it on E-bay.

On a scale of 1 to 10 where do you think Cutco knives stand now days ?
1 being top line.

Just want to show and get feedback from you pros.

Any discussion of Cutco knives usually ends in rants about the company's sales techniques. Of course that has been my experience in other knife forums, but not one as classy as AAPK...

I'd have to say 'fine knives'. Not the best, but better than many. A friend of mine has a beautiful hunting knife, with the 'pearl-ex' type handle, it is very striking and he swears by it. He takes a lot of game and uses it on fish as well. Great lakes sized salmon and such. Has the funny 'Double D' grind. The factory sharpens it for free, and he bought it years ago used. Quality sheath, too.

I say good for you and it seems you got a good deal on it.

My daughter got us one of the cheese knives. I strop it on the back of a legal pad to straighten the fine teeth before they roll too far. It has been a fine and very serviceable part of our kitchen arsenal.

Gr8Scout Thanks for your photo it made me think...

My blond wifey just handed me my Cutco fish 1763 knife I forgot I had. Looks like a hunter to me. I tried to clean fish with it and it sucked for cleaning bluegills. Blade hard and stiff. So I never used it again. Who knows where the sheath is ? Wifey said she uses it some times to cut frozen food. She says she love that Cutco Spatula Spreader.

El Lobo I think I will buy a Cutco cheese knife and give it a try.

We have some we bought used from before I was very knowledgable about knives....they don't hold an edge very well. I don't care for them.

A buddy of mine just got some cutco knives and gave some out to family members for Christmas. When he showed em to me I gotta say they looked pretty nice but I aint never used one. He said they were high end and pretty expensive - is that true?

8) The Silent Fart

An elderly couple was attending church services, about halfway through she leans over and says to her husband, "

I just let out a silent fart what do you think I should do?"

He replies " Put a new battery in your hearing aid."
