All About Pocket Knives

Just received this early Camillus easy open jack, lucked into a BIN that was just listed. Always amazed that a knife can make it 100 years or more with little to no use.

One question Have on the knife, the tang stamps don't jive with the references out there, the pen dates from 1915 or so but the main blade has a 4 line, there is a USA under New York. That is a later tang stamp. I did find statements that Camillus was known to use older blades at times but I don't know if that is accurate.

Any ideas on the tang stamp discrepancy?

........according to "goin's", that is a 1915 stamp-the arched underlined mark was used on smaller blades, the straight 3line mark was used on larger blades!!.............. ............................

Thanks Carrmillus but I don't think I made myself clear, this knife has a 4 line main blade tang stamp which does not jive with the early stamp on the pen.

...another Camillus mystery!!.....the 4 line mark is 1919-1941, maybe the smaller blade is a leftover from an earlier run????................. ....................

Thank you, sorry for being a pest but I was wondering about the 4 line starting around 1919, most references seem to put it later.

.....goins is the only book I have with tang stamp info(knife coll. guide has some) in it, and I've been told it is the best!!.it also states that "sword brand" may be etched on the primary blade!!......... .................
