I just noticed this knife on the bay.
I have never seen one with this type of handles.
What do you 72 collectors think.
All the 1047 I have with a round shield have one rolled pin through the handles.

Rehandled in tortoise shell acrylic is my guess. A pretty good job too! :D Perhaps an earlier scout knife was rehandled and a later round shield was used.

It's definitely been rehandled (very nice). If it was originally a Scout knife (1047) there will be no pattern # on the pile side of the main blade.

Edit: And after taking a look at the listing I see there is no pattern number on the pile side of the main blade so...........

I wonder if it may be celluloid? Camillus made some knives in or around the 1990's with tortoise shell celluloid. This has the same look as those so maybe that's where the handles came from, but it still looks like a rehandle either way.
