All About Pocket Knives

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched and did not find answers I was looking for. I have an old knife in need of new leather handle. Checking to see what process others use in replacing the leather washers. What I have found on another site is the following.
Soak leather washers in water (don't say how long) and stack and clamp in a device till dry. Assemble the washers using contact cement unless it is next to a spacer and then they recommend using acra glass. I am not sure what to use as a sealer so any info would be appreciated.

paladin, do you have a picture of your knife? depending on the type of pommel you may be able to just assemble dry wahsers onto the tang with the desired adhesive and then tighten down the pommel. you can hand polish until smooth then buff, or just sand smooth (shoeshine action works best with the blade in a vice) then spray 2-3 thin coats of garesol, then lightly sand then buff.
