Ok, I believe I caught my breath now after reading this story...As a farm manager for 20 + years we watch safety films all the time of these kind of accidents, usually with the PTO on the tractor..

Now I see why some companies make a one armed knife.

Thank GOD he had a weapon with him.

I am in the center of ILL. (the sick state) we have many one armed men here from working with augers and other farm equipment.

Another example of how strong the will to survive REALLY is.Hope I never get into a similar situation but if I do I hope I would have the,"intestinal fortitude(aka balls)to do the same.

That's a pretty tough ol' guy. I've heard of a couple guys getting their arms torn off by a roof bolting machine here in the coal mines but, never cutting them off on purpose. I guess a man has to do whatever it takes to live.

There was that hiker or rock climber that was in the news a couple years ago. I remember a TV show that featured him and a news crew that went back to where he hacked off his arm. It was his first time back to where he slowly hacked off his trapped arm and deliberately got enough leverage to break his bones. I believe it was a SAK but Iwoudn't swear to it.

Just found a news clip, it was 4 1/2 years ago.

Can't believe it was that long ago. Yeah, another adrenaline junkie. I'm only 51, but my body must be near 70. ::tear:: ::tear:: Felt good 5 days in a row until today, count my blessings! ::tu:: ::tu::

I know what you mean Hukk. With me what doesn't hurt, doesn't work ::tired:: .
