Is Canuck considered a derogatory term to Canadians?

We were there in Victoria for the big 150. Lots going one and a wonderful visit. Salute to all the Maple leafs.

The vast majority of Canadians view the term Canuck as positive. Its origins are uncertain with language roots ranging from Dutch, First Nations, Hawaiian and French through Martian... The only derogatory use is referring to Vancouver’s miserable hockey team.
Johnny Canuck, in WW1 and WW2, was a soldier the enemy did not want to face.
Johnny Canuck was also a comic book action hero.
The Crazy Canucks were legendary (& crazy) world class skiers in the 70’s.

I am fine with Canuck, but I loathe the Vancouver Canucks...
