Just picked up the Schrade Walden 825 Stainless Razor steel today. What a great knife!

I too think the 825 shows design perfection. There is also an older issue with jigged bone handles. Hal shows a beautiful example on the first page of the 'Slenderino' thread.

This pattern started out in the Schrade CutCo lineup before WWII as the 8963, also available in some celluloid versions. They were all non-stainless steel. In the later Schrade Walden lineup was the 895 and the 896K, also non-stainless. The 825 began the stainless versions, culminating in the ubiquitous 897UH. At an earlier date versions with different blade combinations were also available. One of them had a punch blade (the 899) and a butter and molasses clone (the 898K). I am stll looking for one of those. The pre-1947 knives had even more blade and handle combos. They have all eluded me so far.

Awesome thanks for the info good luck on the search! So would this one in Stainless be 70’s or 80’s?

Your tang stamp suggests 1961 to 1973, but probably closer to the 1961 edge of that window.

Thanks appreciate it, this one is going in the pocket love how slim it is with 3 blades!

The 1964 Schrade catalog lists the 825RB with the Razor Blade Stainless etch on the blade.
I'll see if I have the flyer separate of the PDF file but the title of the flyer is: Revolutionary New Razor Blade Stainless Pocket Knives
I believe this is the first time the Razor Blade Stainless etch was used on the 825, probably on in the Schrade Walden.

I believe the OP knife to be made between 1964 to 1973.

There were several Razor Blade Stainless flyers in 1964.

And sometimes you can find them on eBay for $10 or $15 in good user condition. How about that for a bargain!
