All About Pocket Knives

I took this knife apart several years ago and it's been sitting in the parts drawer ever since.
I made it into a single blade as I believe one of the secondary blades was messed up and the celluloid had long since been removed.
This knife is had lots of use, and lots of love. Now it has new nutmeg Catalina bone handles (I think) I lost track of the label.
I think it's daddy was a bear trap because it sure is snappy!

I like the old Keen Kutter logo. That came out nice!

Nice job on the handles.

The jigging in particular has got me interested.

The cutter to do that has me intrigued.

Looking at the jigging "divots", I am guessing the cutter is probably 5/16" to 3/8" diameter and lozenge shaped. My tool to do this will be a Dremel Tool.

I have looked all over and cannot find a cutter of that dimension. Can you give me an idea of what you use and where I can buy one?

Well, Catalina Nutmeg or not, that color and jigging is very nice! I LIKE!
That main blade looks unsharpened! It's a real beauty!

For some reason I had a lot of trouble taking a pictures of this knife. I took pics 2 or 3 photo sessions and I still don't like the pics I posted. I think the bottom picture shows the true color best. I think it ismuch nicer looking than the pics show.

The blade is pretty reflective and it is hard to stop the glare indoors and I think that messes with the camera.

I know the old KKs were made in the Schrade factory, but this knife is almost identical to an old 4 line Camillus jack I have awaiting rehandle that has celluloid stag handles. Both the KK and the Camillus have prong attachments for the handles.
Someone who knows Keen Litters better than I may know of Camillus made these?

Looks nice, Dale! My only complaint is that the bone looks so perfect that people may mistake it for Delrin!

I know what you mean, but when you hold it in your hand without all of the glare there is a depth and a translucent quality to the bone that you don't find on Delrin.
I cannot seem to capture that quality with the camera.

The most marvelous camera and lens system in the world are those that God gave us! Photography is great, and some AAPK members certainly have a gift for it, but nothing beats the natural senses!

Dale, Camillus did make Keen Kutters for Shapleigh after 1940. I believe that your knife was likely made by Camillus. The horns at the top of the wedge are generally a sign of a Camillus made KK. From what I have seen, the Schrade made Keen Kutters do not have the horns.

Looks great. Another one with one leg in the grave, but now resurrected.
