I'm not defending the seller, but he/she did post this note/message before the auction was over.

Wow it's hard to believe there are people that gullible out there. With the advent of the Internet it takes only seconds to see what mammoth bone actually looks like.

Sorry about that. It wasn’t there last night when I first saw it. I was going to just ignore it but couldn’t , so I went back took the screen shots just before the end and posted here. Wonder how long he had the information before he put it on the auction. Where was the disclaimer , it wasn’t in the main discription under the picture.

Is this seller a person who sells a lot of knives? Not trying to defend the eBay seller but
I have seen a lot of knife naive people selling knives from barn auctions, attic finds, etc.

If he sells a lot of knives, possibly shame on him...........

If it's Ivory Mammoth or not it's against eBay rules.

Here is a knife that I have been following now for several days. From the word go it’s been listed as Ivory and yet it’s still listed for sale after 5 days. I had a mammoth bark knife that nearly got me banned from Ebay last year and yet this one goes on and on. Can’t figure out what Ebay is doing sometimes.

I don’t think eBay can figure out what eBay is doing sometimes. I used to assume they had some type of keyword software that caught words describing what eBay says are prohibited items. Lately I’m thinking they just rely on the army of “thought police”, that seem to have arisen in our society, to get “triggered” and report it. Why bother with software?

Yes I believe on eBay someone needs to report an item for it to get banned. I jusT got this

We had to remove your listing because it didn’t follow our Animal products policy. Products from endangered or protected species are not allowed and other wildlife products need to include specific information.
What activity didn't follow the policy

The item you listed contains mammoth or mastodon ivory. Although these creatures no longer exist, we do not allow items composed of their ivory because we cannot verify that the material actually came from an extinct animal. We appreciate that you chose to utilize our site, but we must ask that you please not relist in this case.

Why would a knife guy turn another knife guy into the Ebay police on a knife being out of Ebay policy? I never understood that.
