All About Pocket Knives

The spring on the largest blade is weak and one blade is broke. We have sent it off to Case twice to attempt to get it repaired with no resolve. They simply sent the knife back saying they cannot repair it due to the fact they no longer manufacture parts for that knife style anymore. I am looking to get it back to useable condition because it belonged to my grandfather. Any information as to who and where I can get it repaired or possibly a self repair kit would be greatly appreciated. Please post here or in a private message.

depending on which blades are broken, I might have some to fit your grandads old knife. If you could shoot me a picture I mioght be able to help.

That three "split backspring" Whittler is going to be a real challenge to work with. There are a few guys around that can do it. Kaleb, if you take this baby on, we would love to see the after pictures.

I hope he can do it! Like I said I am fairly new to the knife collecting thing, but I feel like I have some pretty good things I have bought. It's easy to buy nice knives when you're 21 and living at home.

I don't have any of the proper blades for the knife unfortunately.

Do you have any blades that would fit? I just want it to get back working.

Looks like a great project for THE muskrat man to make you a wharncliffe whittler out of that one. Seems to be plenty of blade left and if I can see it right its a 2383 slick black and if you were to put a 6383 blade in it, it isn't going to be restored to origanal anyway. Just a thought.

well, I could reprofile the blades, looks like a good small and large wharnecliffe in there in addition to the pen blade.

Is there no way to replace the blades?

I was in a similar situation. My Grandfaters Case was always in his pocket or being used. Since he broke a small piece of the tip off I simply reprofiled it as Muskrat mentioned but otherwise, left it as my Grandfater used it.

That knife was good enough for your Grandfather to carry in that condition. Leave it the way he did.

My best advise is, Put his up, go out and get another Case like grandads and carry it. Find out what made that knife special to him. Too much restoration and you'll be left with a new knife. Not your grandfathers.
