2020 Graduation Dagger

So, my daughter just finished her college degree: four years on the Dean’s list, 4.0 gpa, and now the ceremony is canceled. She has been asking for a dagger. So, in lieu of a college graduation ceremony, she gets a college graduation ceremonial dagger!

Gifted it to her, and she was ecstatic! I can’t say how proud her parents are!

Forged and ground by hand, Mokume gane guard and pommel, bone handles, copper pins, cold blued blade.

Here’s some build pics.

It is certainly not perfect, but this is probably my favorite build ever, because of its recipient and her journey.

Enjoy...

Four years of hard work. Exemplary record and no graduation ceremony to publicly recognize it. That stinks but at least she has her dad to make up for some of the disappointment. Good job all the way around Tony.

Impressed with your daughters academic accomplishments, disappointed for her and graduation. Impressed that she would like a dagger as her graduation gift. Impressed with what a fine dagger you produced. Excellent all the way around. ::nod:: ::tu::

Doc, Thanks for your kindness. I was in SA a couple weeks ago, "sheltering in places." :D We saw the Alamo, from the outside only. I was there once before, in the middle of the night, and there were more people around in the middle of the night. Crazy days.

Jerry, she wept for a few minutes when she first found out the ceremony was cancelled. The same day, she received a call offering a position, which she accepted. She is doing ok now. Thanks.
