These fancy jr stockmans keep surprising me. I think there must be as many off catalog versions as there are patterns listed. In this pic there are a variety of knives from the '8' series including Walden NY as well as Walden USA stamps. Some are stainless and some are carbon. They all have the same blade complement. Really the differences are just handle material and bolsters. They're all milled with a small degree of variation in style. They date from roughly 1950-1960. It seems like the cutoff is some number of years prior to Delrin as I've noticed you won't find any 808s with milled backs and a 'SCHRADE' shield. Only the blank shield knives are milled and that seems like an age thing. The blank shields disappeared a while before Delrin. Today a wrench gets thrown in the works. The knife in the middle of the pic above the 'W' is an 818 which I see on the 1950 and 1955 price sheets. The entire back is worked, not just the liners. It looks very similar to the diamond etched back of the 1975 GDOT. I have not seen other 1950s knives like this but I'll be looking for more now. ::tu::
