Price, well I picked it up in a trade but if you were looking to buy one your looking at a cost between $150-200 for a DM LE.The LE version of the popular Dumpster Mutt features a Full Height Flat Grind, .250 (1/4") thick SR77 Blade that was Satin Finished by hand.

Specs at a glance:

Steel: SR-77
Hardness: 58 - 60 Rc
Handle: Resiprene C
Thickness: .250"
Blade Length: 5" with penetrator tip
Overall Length: 9 1/2"
it is a stout blade for any hard use or survival blade...the resiprene handle is very comfortable to hold while cutting/chopping very pleased with it and the only draw back to the Scrap yard blade like all Busse family blades is you pay a premium for a great knife but the cost of the knife and no sheath..man I hate that, they offer sheath at an additional cost...so I picked up a Spec-ops sheath "survival" model OD green .if your looking to grab a DM whether the original version which has a powder coated blade and no logo vs. the DM LE has logo & polished blade.

TTD,

That's a nice one!

I agree about the pricing now being premium, especially without a sheath.

I harken back to better.....OK, that sounds too corny. So, here is the original "sterile" Bandicoot I mentioned elsewhere. It came with a fairly good pouch sheath for less than $100. I have not really used it, but it is a well-made, slick handling knife.
I don't know much about what happened to cause all the changes. It seems the knives are still very fine, but certainly not in the bargin class any longer. JMO.

yes they are great blades and any of the Busse line-up(Busse-Scrapyard-Swamp rat) will cost you ..$100 up to what $1500 for some Busse blades...kinda extreme...but no the less I have seen them..I like the blade you own...great overalll blade..kinda "do it all" knife...

That was a good grab Tony. Especially the trade for the custom Howling Rat. I'm more of a user so a "rare/safe queen" Swamp Rat wouldn't turn my gears either.
I have one of the last run of Howling Rats with the Res. C grip. Its a user and shows it.

I joined the Swamp Rat race late in the game. It was the only one I was able to get before they switched to the Micarta slabs. I love the performance and the price used to be stelar. The new designs have moved them closer to Busse in both looks and price. That isn't a bad thing. Its just not completely for me. If they could be purchased on a regular basis (and not on the secondary market with the traditional mark-up), I might own more. Right now SR, Busse, and Scrap Yard are just too dificult to get.

Enjoy that one.

Congrats and enjoy texastony! I hear nothing but good about the whole Busse line and will love to hear what you think of yours.

The Busse fans out there sure sound like die-hard fanatics, so I got to think the knives are outstanding!

texastony...I don't go around telling everybody...especially here..but I'm a "sharpened prybar" fan myself (as well as a slipjoint fan). Just got a Ranger...really, really nice knife.

I think its perfectly fine to be a fan of both slippies and sharpened pry bars.

The extremes are fun...its the middle that's boring!

The DM le is a great blade and due to pricing of all Busse blades probably be the only one I will own, I really love to blow my cash on Rat knives. I can buy 2-3 for the $ of a Busse and have more of a variety of blades and all have sheaths....

Nothing against Busse knives, tony, but if price is an issue, take a look at Ranger.

90 bucks gets you an RD6 - 1/4 inch thick 5160, 6 inch blade edge, 11 3/4 inch OAL, and a sheath!

I know its not INFI, and they are not as good looking as Busse's, but if want a knife you can beat on for a low price with a "no questions asked" guarantee...they are quite a deal!

Again, though, don't get me wrong...Busses, SwampRat, ScrapYard...all amazing knives from what I've heard.

Yeah i am familiar with Ranger blades...I will pick one up one day but right now RAT Cutlery is taken all my money ...RC-3 on it's way as we speak.. 2/2008 RC4- RC 6 Neck knife , axe ...pocket knives USA made.....so Ranger blades are on the back burner for now...thanks TTD
