As far as Silver prices are going up does this affect the price of knives that are Nickel/Silver? Especially junk knives, that you can use the bolsters??

I haven't bought any nickel silver in a while, nor have I seen anything about the price going up except put you just posted.
How much is the increase? And is there an article on it somewhere?

Nickel silver is a misnomer, it has absolutely no silver in it. It is also called "white brass" which is a more proper term. German silver, another term is also misleading since it has no silver content. The nickel silver liners and bolsters on knives contain no silver.

Actual silver prices finally climbed back over 20 yesterday and today are at 22.75 per ounce. That’s still a very long way from over 50 dollars an ounce that it hit back about 13 years ago. It’s funny all the silver and gold sellers want to show on their charts is for the last couple of years. They don’t want to show that if you bought silver 13 years ago at the high, you would still be underwater by nearly 60%.

Maybe back in the day a few hundred years ago nickle silver (or German silver) contained some actual silver, but not any more. Silver content is ZERO.

Nope again!! Our modern "German silver" was only perfected in 1823 in Germany of course, not several hundred years ago and it has NEVER contained any silver. It is an alloy of copper (about 60%) and zinc and nickel (about 20% each). It was made to try to duplicate a similar alloy invented by the Chinese much earlier but that also had no silver. Good thing it doesn't contain any silver or all the "scrappers" would be melting down our old pocket knife frames to make a few bucks.

I took a lesson from the Hunt brother's in 1980, never forgot it..they cornered
the silver market, drove it up to all time high at 48 bucks...
Both my kid's were on there own by 1998 and all of a sudden I had lot's of extra money..
started with a gun safe then buying silver. It stayed around 5 bucks till 203-4
In 2011 it spiked and I sold a lot off for $45.00 bucks a ounce and bought the Arizona house..
The "white metal" " gold's little brother" "the devil's metal" has been good to me

If I had invested the same money into McDonalds when I bought silver and gold over 10 years ago, I would have not only quadrupled my money, I would be collecting a nice 6% quarterly dividend on my original investment. I mention that because that was the investment I didn’t make because I bought precious metals. I did buy MCD but not until it had doubled from that point. Whereas I lost 50% on my silver and just now I am ahead on gold. Precious metals are not the “great”, “safe”investment that the commercials try to tell you it is. I don’t even want to think what my investment would be worth if I had bought into more Amazon at that time. ::dang::

That's why they call silver the devil's metal, its wild market up & down swing's...
Metal's I believe are a long haul deal, suited best really for the younger man
Several guys I worked with at GM used to make jokes about me buying silver while
they were maxing out there PSP in stock and for a few years making 10-40,000 bucks a year on stocks, letting it ride
big money..they lost it all in while I paid 3/4 of the cost for a 2 year old house on 4.88 acres in the desert
My investment at 5 bucks a ounce was small, nothing but time to hold tight till the proper time came as in 2011
Gold & Silver is just something for thousand's of years a fella should hold on to some in case the paper trail of money goes up in flames
Remembering the Hunt's just plain worked out for me
