All About Pocket Knives

My knife may have come from a Grandma since Grandpa didn't like the roughed-up look of the scales. I'm putting it here but am unsure if this is the right forum to ask these type of questions. But, I'll ask anyway and let the mods change it to another thread if applicable.

1) What would be the best substance to fill/conceal the cut-out parts and seam on the scales of my RB?

I've had some offers on it and a couple of guys said they would give me something significantly higher if those scales got a close-to-transparent makeover: a.k.a 'no notice of a restoration attempt:

I included a closeup of the tang stamp which is barely discernible. Because of the tightness at the hinge spot the tang's markings took a hit...

2) What would be the 'date' range for the manufacture of this RB knife and along with any other descriptive details such as 'model' and 'location' of the maker/designer etc.?

At least for me...your Youtube link is showing private...and not able to be viewed. Maybe you could show some pictures of the full knife and problem area. I don't know if this applies to your question...but, here are some ways to repair handles...

I also went back to my YouTube homepage and verified that this video was set to 'public viewing' which means that anyone can view it anytime. If it still does not work for you, it must have something to do with your computer settings.

Please try it again and email me your results along with any additional recommendations about my particular knife that the video further clarified.

Finally, where else on AAPK could I post a photo of the semi-rubbed-out tang stamp of my knife to get some opinions on what this knife actually is? On this one please just type a URL in a new post with the link to the best area on AAPK for this matter.

I like your barlow! My link above about handle repairs, probably doesn't apply to the cracks and imperfections of your knife. Value of knives (like coins) is highly dependent upon the condition of the knife. The biggest question is whether the amount of money you put in to the repair...adds that much value or functionality to the knife. Sometimes, people will invest more money (than it would increase the value) for sentimental reasons...often a family knife. Generally, higher dollar knives are going to have very few defects and collectors aren't willing to shell out a lot more money for a repaired knife.
If you have to pay $50-100 to repair it... The link below shows what some Russell barrows have ACTUALLY sold for on Ebay (people will list knives at ridiculous prices...but these are what they have gone for. Based on the link below...I'd venture a GUESS that your knife would go for around $75- give-or-take...based on bidders involved. A lot of knife collectors had "saved" searches and will definitely be seen by knife collectors, on Ebay. In other words...no one will get it for $10.
If it were mine, I'd carefully flow some thin viscosity Zap-a-gap cyanoacrylic glue, to the crack line on the back side, just to stabilize the crack. That probably won't appease your friends who want a repair that is not noticeable. I'm not sure any repair will do that. If you're just wanting the most money out of it...I'd list it on Ebay...without doing anything. Start at .99 and ending on a Sunday evening. I think being original will appeal to as many (or more) bidders, than being repaired.
