Anyone bought any of these RR Cinnamon Bone?

I received an email today from Olde Towne Cutlery and they had this beautiful Cinnamon stag bone canoe. They have other patterns with these handles. I am sorely tempted to get these, these are nice, nice, nice.
Anyone have any of these and want to share? I would like to see what the actual knife that people have gotten looks like and if it’s as good as this photo.

If you do decide to get one, you can be our road test reporter. Do you think they will sell out fast?

Not sure, I have seen them for sale on at least 3 sites now. I would guess these would go quickly, they have that “look” that drives sales.

I'd like to see it on a bigger knife, like their Folding Hunter. It's definitely got a really good look to it.

Why do they call it Cinnamon bone? It's stag pattern bone.

Seems to be eight (8) in the RR Cinnamon Bone Stag Series.
SMKW currently have 7 on backorder.
Nice.

They put me in mind of the China made discontinued Colts that were in that price range and are now going about double on e-bay. ::hmm::

Dang@!,

You just cost me $41 :D
Not only does the bone and shield look great; it's damascus steel too.
It's also my favorite pattern (copperhead).
I can't wait to get it.

Attached is the listing photo.

Thanks!

Sorry Keith, that’s the risk you take when you come here. Please post pics when you get it. That’s not a bad price for a Damascus knife with handles that pretty.

That's a good looking knife.
What is the closed length?

3.75" closed ( https://www.smkw.com/rough-ryder-cinnam ... copperhead ) And what's this business about it costing $41? The listing says $24.99. Shipping must be a bundle.

Hey Jerry,
I definitely made a mistake there. When I looked for them on Ebay; I searched Rough Rider, and the one that I purchased was the cheapest BIN, $40 and change (at least free shipping). After I bought it I realized there were many more under Rough Ryder (and cheaper). ::mdm::

But, I am very happy with the knife.
My first impressions:

The stag bone is really nice and distinctive.
The bone blends in perfectly to the bolsters.
Medium snap, not soft, but you won't have to worry about losing a finger
Half stops
No gaps between the springs and liners.
The blade is shaving sharp
Not sure what blade steels are used.

The only negative I can find is that the blades are not perfectly centered.
But, they're not off enough to rub.

Thanks!

Wow Keith that knife is a great looking knife. Is that real Damascus or just etched to look like Damascus? The handles on these are amazing.

If it's etched, it's the best job I've ever seen.
By the naked eye it looks legit, but I haven't looked at the edge under magnification. That's the next test.
If it is just an etch, I will post it.

I ask because I have a few knives that have mirror polish on stainless Damascus blades. It looks fantastic but doesn’t have that strong Damascus look to it. Yours looks to be either high polish or mirror polished Damascus, if it’s not etched that is. I like it either way.

I have the entire 9 knives in the Rough Ryder Cinnamon Bone Stag series.
This series is very popular in the knife world. I see many knife sellers and retailers are asking very high prices, over double the initial smkw prices. Eight of the nine were sold out a few days ago at smkw, they have since restocked, but for how long I do not know. If you are contemplating purchasing the series, now is the time.

All the knives in the Rough Ryder Cinnamon Bone Stag series feature Damascus steel blades with half stops, match strike pulls, and polished finish. The handles are Bone Stag with brass pins and liners, nickel silver Slant R bolsters, as well as an acorn shield. The Cinnamon Bone Stag Razor has a full Damascus blade and blade flipper.

The Cinnamon Bone Series is gorgeous. Fit and finish is exceptional on all knives. I only had one blade that was tight on opening and closing, however, not tight enough to be replaced, Quick Release oil corrected it to near perfection.
There was a small part of handle pin protruding below the stag milling on one handle that I had to file down with a small compact emery board nail file. (Bottom picture below)
I do hope that RR discontinues the large "R" monogram on the lead bolsters that many of their knives display. Many collectors share this opinion.

There are many types of "Stag" used on knives.
The handle material used on the Cinnamon Bone Stag series is not true stag. It is "Bone Stag"

This is "True Stag"

This is "Bone Stag" used on the Rough Ryder Cinnamon Bone Stag series. You can see the very fine horizontal sawcut lines from milling. This is not a new technique, it has been used for many years. Case and GEC also use this technique. The point is: It is not "Imitation Stag," it is "Bone Stag."
I have never seen a better quality Bone Stag on any other manufactured knife. The bone thickness, the bleaching (dye) carving/milling, pinning, shield, it's all here.

Another subject in question has been brought up, that is: Are the blades real "Damascus" Blades?
I used my USB Digital Microscope with 300X 2048x1536 resolution to obtain the below top edge of the blade. The results are obvious, Damascus!

It seems that Rough Ryder comes out with new "old patterns" every month. Their imagination and evolving intuitiveness is keeping them ahead in the knife world sales.
Another excellent example of this is in their "Rough Rider Reserve" continuing series.

Thank you Dan, a big thank you. That confirms my thoughts about this series when I first saw it. These look like exceptional knives. I had sworn off of RR knives, but this might be enough to convince me to collect the whole series. What a great looking collection you have.

Thank you very much Dan. I've been trying to decide which brand and series I wanted
to purchase next and I think you just helped me make up my mind. ::tu::

Thank you Dan. You answered all my questions and then some. We're on the same page regarding the big 'R' on the bolster. It certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings if they stopped using it. The faux stag is well done, IMO better than the Case 6.5 Bone. I may be labeled a heretic but I never developed a taste for Damascus so between the Damascus and the big 'R', I'll just let someone else have my share. Enjoy your collection.

I just ordered the set except the razor and leg knife.
They look beautiful and I agree with you about the handles Jerry.
I think they are prettier than Case's bone stag.

I removed the foam liners from the boxes and put them in a shadow box display.
They sure make a pretty display! ::tu::

I changed the way I have these displayed.
The knives set so deep in the foam holders you couldn't see anything but the front.
I had an old piece of blue foam from an old knife display and I wired them to it.
The blue set off the handles real nice. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.
